In recent years, Reverse Innovation Dollars have been sold individually – no set has been offered.

About the innovation program

The Mint’s American Innovation ™ 1-Coin Program started with a single dollar in 2018 and has followed with four additional strokes each year since then. Four more will appear annually through 2032, when innovations related to each state, the District of Columbia, and the five US territories are featured.

About the set

The reverse-proof set of 2021 American Innovation Dollars includes the following four coins minted at the US Mint’s facility in San Francisco:

  • New Hampshire – Ralph Baer’s first home video game console
  • Virginia – the Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnel
  • New York – the 363 mile long Erie Canal
  • North Carolina – The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the first public college in the United States

Each is embossed with a reverse-proof finish, with mirrored elements and a matte background – as opposed to the standard proof finish. The regular proof set of 2021 Innovation Dollars launched last month and 56,267 sold through October 31st.

Order, price and limits

The American Innovation $ 1 Coin Reverse Proof Set 2021 is priced at $ 28 and is available directly from the US Mint through their online American Innovation product store.

It has a production limit of 50,000 and is expected to be sold out. Orders are limited to five sets per household in the first 24 hours of sales.
